Only seven minutes of ice time, but a\nmemory to last a lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurora native Barclay Goodrow put the\nicing on the cake of the NHL\u2019s San Jose Sharks\u2019 first round series with the\nVegas Golden Knights late last week, burying the overtime winner that marked an\nincredible late-game comeback for the Sharks to move on to round two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goodrow, a regular fourth-liner on only\nhis second shift of the extra frame, called it the \u201cbiggest goal of his\ncareer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo be honest, I can\u2019t really remember\nwhat just happened,\u201d Goodrow told a massive media scrum following the game. \u201cIt\nwas a pretty surreal moment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the Sharks down 3 \u2013 1 late in the\nthird period, the team went on a five-minute major powerplay that saw them\nscore four goals to take the lead. The Golden Knights managed to tie it up late\nto force the overtime, before Goodrow put the series to bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGame Seven, overtime, NHL playoffs,\u201d\nGoodrow told TSN\u2019s Ray Ferraro. \u201cI had tons of energy. I was sitting there most\nof the overtime, so when I got the call, I figured I may as well use my fresh\nlegs, and make it create something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former 114-point star of the\nYork-Simcoe Express commended star defenseman Erik Karlsson with finding him to\nproduce the game-winning goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI saw him get the puck, I saw the\n(defenseman) was a little flat-footed\u2026I was hoping he would get the puck to me\nas I\u2019m getting behind the D-man\u2026(Karlsson) is a world-class player, so I was\njust happy to get it around (Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre) Fleury there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barclay\u2019s hockey career began with the\nOptimist hockey program in Aurora, a precursor to reaching the Aurora Minor\nHockey program for five and six-year-olds. He moved on to the Aurora Tigers AA\nranks early in his career, before spending his final five years of minor hockey\nwith the Express program, winning a total of five OMHA championships between\nhis stints with the Tigers and the Express.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He joined the Country Day School hockey\nteam upon the program\u2019s reintroduction in his Grade Eight year, skating for the\nCyclones for three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2018-19 season marked Goodrow\u2019s rise\nto the top ranks, playing in all 82 games for the first time in his NHL career.\nAfter five seasons with the OHL\u2019s North Bay Battalion and going unpicked in the\nNHL Entry Draft, Goodrow signed with the Sharks in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
