The regular season is over, and the list\nis up for the NHL\u2019s Central Scouting\u2019s final rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the hundreds of young men hoping\nto catch a glimpse of their name on the list, released last week, is former\nAurora Tiger forward Anthony Romano, who claimed the 52nd spot in the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Romano was a key component up front for\nthe OJHL squad in the 2017-18 season, finishing fourth in team scoring as just\na 17-year old with 44 points in 40 games, adding an impressive 10-point\nperformance in the postseason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has been cutting his teeth for the\npast year with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League,\nwhere he has posted 47 points through 60 games in the USHL regular season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the long distance between his\nhome of Richmond Hill and that of the South Dakota-based team, Romano\u2019s game\nhas grown to create a realistic goal of hearing his name called in the second\nround of the NHL draft in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe big adjustment is not really seeing\nthat many people, you know the big skyscrapers and all that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI kept improving, kept staying the\ncourse, kept getting better every day. That lead me to here to the USHL as an\n18-year-old.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opting for the USHL rather than the\nmajor junior Ontario Hockey League has allowed Romano to take the\npath-less-chosen, despite where and when he hears his name called in June. He\ncommitted during his tenure with the Aurora club to a scholarship with Clarkson\nUniversity next season, an NCAA division-one program in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important to get an education\nbecause even if I do make the NHL or hockey pro, I\u2019m not going to play\nforever,\u201d said Romano, who has worn the \u2018C\u2019 for the Stampede throughout the\nseason. \u201cI\u2019ll have an education to fall back on if nothing works out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurora Tigers owner Jim Thomson took to\nTwitter to congratulate his former star forward, calling his future bright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tigers\u2019 play-by-play announcer Kevin\nDean chimed in with his own two cents on Twitter, calling Romano \u201cthe real\ndeal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
