Easter is a little bit\nlater than usual this year and the Easter Bunny has been taking the extra time\nto get in the zone for their biggest weekend of the year \u2013 not to mention a\ntraditional visit to Aurora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, April 20,\nthe Town of Aurora will once again host the annual Aurora Easter Egg Hunt at\nthe Aurora Seniors\u2019 Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doors open to the fun\nat 9.30 a.m., with Egg Hunts running between 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional\nfamily-friendly activities will be spread out throughout the Aurora Seniors\u2019\nCentre and adjacent Aurora Community Arboretum. Inside the Seniors\u2019 Centre,\ncrafts and games will be running along with a pancake breakfast hosted by the\nOptimist Club of Aurora for a nominal fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahead of the big day,\nthe Easter Bunny sat down with The Auroran for a sneak peek at the plans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Auroran:<\/strong> What have you been doing with all this extra time ahead of Easter?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easter Bunny:<\/strong> It has certainly enabled me to make more treats \u2013 and I think it\ncertainly enables kids to make sure they will all be worthy of their treats on\nEaster Morning. I quite often like a late Easter because I know the ground is a\nlot harder for me to hop on! Sometimes when Easter is in March, there\u2019s still\noften snow and some parts of Canada are really wet. Having it in April means I\ncan clean my feet less. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TA:<\/strong> But that means organizers have had more time to prepare here in Aurora,\nas well. What have you heard about what\u2019s in store?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EB:<\/strong> Well, I have not seen this firsthand, but I am very excited to see it.\nI understand that once all the kids find their special eggs and they redeem\nthem for their goodie prize, they are going to be redeeming their eggs from an\nEaster-decorated crooked hut, which has been all jazzed up. I have no idea what\nthese event coordinators are talking about, but they are hopping excited about\nit. In the past, there has always been a tent set up for the kids to redeem\ntheir eggs and this year there is a physical crooked hut ready to go and\napparently it has been painted in my favourite colours \u2013 blues and reds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TA:<\/strong> That\u2019s what the organizers are cooking up, but what are you doing to\nprepare?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EB:<\/strong> I always want to make sure my hair is ready for photos because I know\nkids like taking their photos with me, but my coat is getting a little bit\nthinner because of the warmer weather, so I am hoping my hair\nis not too thin by then. I\u2019m also doing my regular exercise routine. Now that I\nhave had a few extra weeks to train for my big night, it is a bit more than\nwhat I\u2019m used to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TA:<\/strong> So, this hare is hoping for a good hair day?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EB:<\/strong> Very funny!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TA:<\/strong> I try! What are you most looking forward to?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EB:<\/strong> It is always different what is on the ground each year because each\nspring is completely different \u2013 and that\u2019s the joyous thing about the season:\nit\u2019s a time for rebirth. The plants and stalks will be coming up, there is\nalways something different and it is always something cool to look forward to.\nA lot of people don\u2019t realise that the Egg Hunt is only one of the activities.\nThere are always countless extra activities in Aurora \u2013 and I love to brag\nabout them because they are all themed around me! They have a fun activity\ncalled Bunny Bowling \u2013 no, it doesn\u2019t involve any real bunnies, but I\u2019m\nflattered they made a game all about me. As well, they have a face painting\nstation, and a lot of kids seem to have their faces done just like me! A lot of\nthe crafts are bunny-themed too, and then there are these cool Rabbit Hoppers,\nwhich are races where kids get to jump on these tiny inflatable rabbits down a\ncourse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TA:<\/strong> Easter is your busiest time of year. How do you find the time to fit\nAurora into your schedule each year?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EB:<\/strong> Have you ever seen a bunny race? We are one of the fastest \u2013 maybe not\nas fast as a cheetah, but bunnies certainly have a lot of speed and know how to\ncover a lot of ground efficiently!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TA: <\/strong>Will you have any helpers on the ground this weekend to make things go\neven smoother in Aurora?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EB:<\/strong> I sure do. I am very impressed that the Aurora Girl Guides come out\nevery year and help to volunteer and put on all the activities. My\nunderstanding is there are approximately 30 Girl Guides who will be there\nhelping us and, in addition to them, there are going to be about 40 high school\nstudents. All in all, I think there is going to be over 400 hours of volunteer\nwork, all done to celebrate my special day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TA:<\/strong> That sounds impressive!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EB:<\/strong> There are so many things that teens could be doing on the Saturday and\nI know from what I hear that teens like to sleep in, but at Aurora\u2019s Easter Egg\nHunt, this is not one of those mornings you sleep in. All the volunteers are up\nsuper early, they are in the Arboretum, making it safe for everybody and the\nfact they are giving their Saturday is very heartwarming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TA:<\/strong> Do you think you\u2019ll see some familiar faces this weekend, maybe people\nwho have come to the Egg Hunt before and are excited to come back?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EB:<\/strong> There is really something the entire family can enjoy. The Easter Egg\nHunt is a truly multigenerational event, a magnet for nuclear families to get\ntogether, along with their extended families. For every child that attends this\nevent, there is a guarantee that it is 2.5+ people that come out with that one\nchild. It is really cool to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurora\u2019s annual Easter Egg Hunt\nwill ta<\/em>ke place Saturday, April 20 from\n9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wristbands are on sale now for $6 per child (parents and\nguardians free) and can be purchased at Town Hall, the Aurora Family Leisure\nComplex, and the Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex.
