Welcome, long-awaited April!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are you smiling right now? You should be: it\u2019s April,\nbeautiful April, in all its glory and sunshine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I thrive on the word \u201cspring\u201d. Nothing makes me happier\nthan seeing the crocuses come out, that the robins are back, and I am searching\nfor my running shoes. I probably sound childish, but it is a part of my secret\ndesire to return to childhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Think back when you were small, what did you want to be\nwhen you grew up? A radio disc jockey, a mountain climber, a dentist, a cowboy,\nor even a mother? As for me, I always wanted to be a nurse, until I saw blood\nfor the first time on my knee! That was it for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I approached university, I wanted to be a criminal\nlawyer and was accepted into law school in Windsor. However, my mom convinced\nme to go \u201cfor just one year\u201d to teachers\u2019 college. I personally didn\u2019t like\nschool and that would have been the last thing on my mind. I informed my mom\nthat, when I finish, I will hand her the certificate and then I would go to law\nschool. Well, that changed quickly when I met a cool looking guy with long hair\nand moustache. He was in teacher\u2019s college too and didn\u2019t that crazy guy\npropose after two weeks of dating! Who does that? And then who says yes! Here\nwe are forty years later, and we are the best of friends, whom I adore and\nlove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember those words: never say never — because it will\nmake you eat your words time and time again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This month I bring you the magic, love and excitement of\nspring!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its time to find that favorite sweater or light jacket\nand get outside, go to your local bookstore and discover a new book, and sit\noutside and gather up that vitamin D and enjoy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Focus on the positive of how you look today; yes, today!\nIt will set you free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The time has come for us to realize that until we work on\nincreasing our self-esteem by loving ourselves in small ways, we can\u2019t begin\nchanging ourselves for the better in big ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We must start by choosing to break the self-destructive\ncycle of unrealistic expectations, especially our own. Don\u2019t wait for someone\nto say how good you look, say it yourself and that should be enough. You are an\namazing person, you are just perfect the way you are. Feed your heart my\nfriends, feed it with all the good that you can think of and tell yourself I am\njust enough. Yes, I know we all have something we can work on, okay then, work\non it and smile. Life is awesome, life is fun, life is laughing at yourself and\nsaying, \u201cyeah, I know I am a crazy fool, it\u2019s okay because I like me. I am not\ngoing to worry about whether you like me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That, my friends, is the only weight-loss you need,\nseparating yourself from negative comments from others, and their own opinions\nabout what you should do and not do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, eat when you\u2019re hungry, drink when you\u2019re\nthirsty, sleep when you\u2019re tired, get in harmony with your body through regular\nexercise, and nourish your soul through prayer and maybe even meditation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This can happen while you are walking outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Jenny Craig said \u201cSelf-love is the only weight-loss\naid that really works in the long run\u201d. \nSo, be kind to yourself, and all is well with you. Be at peace and\nbreathe slowly as we all welcome spring. Take care of yourself and see you next\nmonth!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HAPPEINNGS AT THE SENORS\u2019 CENTRE<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LADIES BILLIARDS OR POOL. If you are interested in\nlearning to play pool or just want to play with women, then why not come out on\na Monday morning from 9 a.m. to 12 noon? That is the time that ladies get the\nwhole pool room to themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EVERGREEN CHOIR CONCERT. Tickets go on sale April 1 for\nthe concert which will be held on Saturday, May 25 a 1:30 p.m. These concerts\nare usually sold out, so get your tickets early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GIANT GARAGE SALE. This will be held on Sunday, April 28.\nItems for sale will be collected on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27,\nnot before.  So, during your Spring\ncleaning, think about what you want to get rid of and donate it to the Seniors\u2019\nCentre.<\/p>\n\r\n\"Facebook\"<\/a>\"twitter\"<\/a>\"mail\"<\/a>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
