Help to keep Aurora beautiful by fanning out with a team\nof volunteers this Saturday for the Town\u2019s annual Clean-Up Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Friday is the deadline to sign up to participate in\nthe April 13 Clean-Up Day, which will see individuals gather at Town Park at 8\na.m. to receive their clean-up kit and assigned locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants will be thanked with a volunteer\nappreciation back at Town Park from 12 noon to 2 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking at 44 areas this year that have to be\naddressed,\u201d says Greta Zinck, Waste Recycling Coordinator for the Town of\nAurora. \u201cMost of the locations are parks, and some of them are open spaces or\nwalkways between schools and businesses. We offer supplies for residents to do\nthe cleanup, then they just leave the bags, tell us where they are, we have\nthem picked up by our contractor, and then we offer them a barbecue as a thank\nyou the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen residents help out, it is appreciated by everyone\nwho lives here. It\u2019s about keeping Aurora beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Saturday\u2019s Clean-Up Day is not the only initiative\nthe Town is working on to not only keep the municipality clean, but divert\nwaste away from landfills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 4, the Town will host an Electronic Recycling\nDay at the Joint Operations Centre near the top of Industrial Parkway North. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Joint Operations Centre will be the scene of another\nprogram on June 8: a community garage sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll have residents who are interested in having a\ngarage sale come to our location, there will be 50 \u2013 70 spots and they can come\nand sell their stuff because everyone likes a garage sale \u2013 and it keeps stuff\nout of landfill.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
