All young athletes\ndream of scoring the big goal in front of thousands of fans: yet for Aurora\u2019s\nCam Morrison, he has realized the dream twice over the course of seven days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The star left winger\nfor the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish led his team to their\nsecond-straight NCAA Big Ten tournament championship late in March, notching\nthe game winner in a 3 \u2013 2 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions in front of\nover 5,000 fans. The goal, and the game, booked Notre Dame\u2019s ticket to the\nprestigious NCAA final tournament, as an underdog and third-ranked seed in the\nconference. Morrison was also named to the Big Ten all-tournament team,\nalongside three of his Fighting Irish teammates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was already\ndeja-vu for the twenty-year-old: he scored the game-winning goal in overtime of\nthe Big Ten final against the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet the magic\ncontinued for Morrison on Saturday night against the second-ranked Clarkson\nUniversity Golden Knights just one week later, burying the overtime goal to\nsend Notre Dame to the final eight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDeath, taxes, and\nMorrison scoring the game winner in overtime,\u201d announced the Notre Dame\nplay-caller, as Morrison celebrated with his teammates in front of another\ncrowd of over 5,000 fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morrison\u2019s stock in\nthe hockey world has risen tenfold since having first caught the eyes of scouts\nplaying minor midget for the York-Simcoe Express in 2013-14. His over a\npoint-per-game pace earned the Aurora native a spot on the top line of the\njunior A Tigers the next season, where he alongside linemates Johnny Curran and\nMichael Laidley were the top offensive force in the OJHL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finishing second on\nthe team in scoring as a 16-year old, Morrison earned the league\u2019s Rookie of\nthe Year honours before moving south to join the USHL\u2019s Youngstown Phantoms.\nThere he once again took home the Rookie of the Year trophy in 2015-16, scoring\nat over a point-per game pace against players as old as 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most impactful\nmoment of his young hockey career came in June of 2016, while ranked as the\n46th overall North American skater heading into the NHL draft. There he was\ndrafted by the Colorado Avalanche, 40th overall in the second round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A stint at Avs camp\nin the summer led to his move to South Bend, Indiana, where he has since become\nthe driving force behind the Fighting Irish squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The junior will be\nlooking to sign his first entry-level contract with the Avalanche fairly soon,\nafter just posting a 21-point performance in a 32-game season with the Irish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
