Theatre Aurora wraps up its season with\nthe toe-tapping (literally) comedy \u201cStepping Out\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This play by Richard Harris is about\nseveral strangers in North London who are taking dance lessons at a low-end studio.\nEach character has their own reasons for being there, and over the course of\nthe show we discover more about their fears, motivations and relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When they have the opportunity of\nperforming in an upcoming recital in front of a large audience, will these\namateurs overcome their lack of experience, stage fright and some internal\ndrama to come together as a well-choreographed unit in time for their big\nnight?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is one of the largest casts on stage\nat Theatre Aurora this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jessica Ducharme is Mavis, the former\nchorus girl, teacher, and sometimes confident of the group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is assisted in her efforts by less\nthan enthusiastic pianist Mrs. Fraser, portrayed by Donna Corbett. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eight dance students are Lynne (Emma\nHood), Dorothy (Kristina Garritano), Maxine (Julie Lennick), Andy (Laura\nHalley), Sylvia (Heather Laroche), Rose (Geri Sefi), Vera (Barb Jones) and\nGeoffrey (Bruce Williamson).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All bring realistic portrayals of their\ncharacters, ranging from shy to outspoken, and the audience can watch the\nevolution of each character\u2019s personalities, relationships and dance skills as\nthey work towards their big night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The set is simple but effective, and good\nuse of costumes helps establish each character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this production Theatre Aurora is\nconcluding its current season on a strong note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
