A new era has begun\nat Aurora Toyota under the growing umbrella of the NewRoads Automotive Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Newmarket-based\ncompany, which now boasts five brands in their portfolio, took over Aurora\nToyota, located at Bayview and Wellington, in November and are now hard at work\nbringing the NewRoads philosophy to loyal customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have been\npresent in Aurora and Newmarket for the better part of twelve years,\u201d says\nNewRoads president Michael Croxon. \u201cIt was eight or nine years ago that we\nbought the GM store (in Newmarket), rebranded as NewRoads and focused our\nthinking on how we were going to position ourselves in the community. Community\nis one of our four pillars, along with employee engagement, customer enthusiasm\nand performance. We developed these four pillars quite conscientiously and we\nspent a lot of time figuring out how to execute better in each of those areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe just came off\nour annual NewRoads retreat where we had 85 of our associates and\u2026we talked\nabout employee engagement, customer enthusiasm and what we can do to be better\nin those two specific areas. The community piece ties into our fundamental\nbelief that employee engagement will lead to customer enthusiasm, that employee\nengagement will lead to community involvement and if we\u2019re involved in giving\nback to the community, our hope is the community will consider us for their\nnext automotive purchase.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the community is\nconsidering NewRoads for their next automotive purchase, they are spoiled for\nchoice. Aurora Toyota joins a portfolio that not only includes General Motors,\nbut Chrysler, Mazda and Subaru. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToyota is aligned\nwith quality and has always been,\u201d says Mr. Croxon. \u201cWe like to think NewRoads\nand what we do is aligned with a certain quality as well. To that end, the\nbrands complement each other. Toyota has always put a premium on a tremendous\nservice experience for their customers. They have a very loyal customer\nfollowing and they have a significant market share, if not the top market\nshare, of any brand in this geography. If we are to become the predominant\nautomotive retailer in the northern 905, as it were, Toyota makes a lot of\nsense for us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToyota has a broad\nportfolio. The trends now are towards small SUVs and I think it is timely we\nclosed this deal on November 30 because by December 10, we had the new Toyota\nRAV4 on the showroom floor, and that has been met with tremendous enthusiasm\nfrom both current RAV4 customers and people who are new to the Toyota brand\ntrading in other makes. As other manufacturers exit the car market [in favour\nof small SUVs], Toyota is not doubling down, but they have made a point in\nsaying they\u2019re staying in. Their redone Corolla is a tremendous car and a\ntremendous value for customers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the rest\nof 2019, NewRoads aims to bring Aurora Toyota, as well as their recently\nacquired Newmarket Toyota showroom, into \u201cthe NewRoads culture.\u201d It is a task\nMr. Croxon says he does not take lightly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou always want to\nsell more cars, you always want to service more automobiles, you always want to\ndrive the bottom line of the organization, but if we have been successful in\ntaking the 85 Toyota associates that we inherited [from both stores] and\ngetting their thinking aligned with our other 250 associates around our culture\nand the way that we like to treat each other and our customers, then it will\nhave been a successful year,\u201d he says. \u201cWrapping our arms around the associates\nhere was our first priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
