While it\u2019s still early in 2019, there is a lot going on in our Town, so let\u2019s take a moment to take a look at some news items so far this year in Aurora through that well-known story telling device, the limerick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Windrows<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A local said \u201cCouncil, I stand here before you<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please have the Town’s windrows ploughed, I implore you\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Council did say  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJust wait until May  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s cheaper for us if the sun melts them for you\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cannabis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the coming legalization of pot \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Town’s opinions going forward were sought<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are you against or you\nfor  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A retail cannabis store? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Council responded with a definite \u201cNot\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Library Square<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stated the architect \u201cAt Library Square
\nWe propose a splash pad and atrium there
\nRink, studios and hall
\nWe can fit in them all<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But don\u2019t ask for more as there\u2019s no room to\nspare\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pot Holes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurora’s pot holes this year’ve made us shout<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That they\u2019re a pain in the \u201caxle’s\u201d no doubt <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their increase in number’s been steep  \n <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With some so horrendously deep<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That if stuck you need a hand to get out<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Code of Conduct<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Council\u2019s desire for a Code of Conduct\u2019s been\nstrong
\nAnd we all agree that the concept\u2019s not wrong<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But we\u2019ve been down this road <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So instead of a Code 
\nWhy don\u2019t they try harder to just get\nalong? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elections<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How many campaigns can residents take? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s another one this fall, for Pete\u2019s sake! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Debates, ads and sound bites we\u2019ll hear<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After two elections last year<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You’d think at last we’d be given a break <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\nthe GO parking you circle in vain <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And\nare skunked for a spot once again <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s\na sure guarantee  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By\nthe time one comes free <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\nwill be too late to catch the last train \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hydro Funds<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Council was living a Hydro Fund high <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dreaming of all of the things it could buy <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But funds spent at this pace <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And not being replaced <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will soon see this well of cash running dry <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For months we’ve endured a long-standing trend<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of a sustained arctic ice and snow blend <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While in its white blanket our city  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Has looked especially pretty <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We all wish winter would finally end<\/p>\n\n\n\n
