{"id":22924,"date":"2019-02-07T12:12:34","date_gmt":"2019-02-07T17:12:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=22924"},"modified":"2019-02-07T12:12:34","modified_gmt":"2019-02-07T17:12:34","slug":"getting-things-done-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/getting-things-done-2\/","title":{"rendered":"GETTING THINGS DONE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Mayor Tom Mrakas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As your Mayor, I believe that all sports and recreation groups should have an equal voice \u2013 regardless of the size of the organization or whether the group is competitive or recreational.<br \/>\nI made a commitment that I would make it my priority to meet with the head of every sport and recreation organization on a regular basis and give every group equal time and opportunity to discuss their needs.<br \/>\nIn fulfillment of this commitment, since the start of the New Year, I have already met with the heads of several groups. I have reached out to all organizations, and invited them to meet with me in the Mayor\u2019s office to discuss their organization\u2019s needs. And the response has been overwhelming as all our organizations are excited about the possibilities moving forward and encouraged to have a direct link to the Mayor and Council to hear the needs of all our organizations.<br \/>\nAs I believe we should celebrate the hard work of all our sports and recreation groups, I have also asked each organization to consider coming to General Committee and make a brief presentation that speaks to the achievements of their organizations over the last year, as well as what is in store in the upcoming year.<br \/>\nAs well, we will be recognizing a team or member of each organization at the same time once a year with a visit to the Mayors office where they will receive the Mayors award of sporting excellence.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s all for this week.
