{"id":22330,"date":"2018-11-29T12:47:48","date_gmt":"2018-11-29T17:47:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=22330"},"modified":"2018-11-29T12:47:48","modified_gmt":"2018-11-29T17:47:48","slug":"express-alum-lemieux-signs-with-spirit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/express-alum-lemieux-signs-with-spirit\/","title":{"rendered":"Express alum Lemieux signs with Spirit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Jake Courtepatte<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another York-Simcoe Express product has taken his next steps to the professional level.<br \/>\nKing\u2019s Ian Lemieux officially signed with the OHL\u2019s Saginaw Spirit on Saturday, jumping to the major junior level for the first time in his career.<br \/>\n\u201cAs an organization, we are pleased that Ian and his family have committed to the Saginaw Spirit,\u201d said Spirit General Manager Dave Drinkill.<br \/>\n\u201cHe came in and really impressed our staff during training camp. When we returned him to Jr. A, he has done everything we have asked him to do and he has earned this opportunity. We are looking forward to seeing him in a Saginaw uniform.\u201d<br \/>\nSelected by the Spirit in the sixth round of April\u2019s OHL Entry Draft, Lemieux has been honing his craft with the OJHL\u2019s Stouffville Spirit so far this season, where he has posted two assists through the first 21 games.<br \/>\nThe six-foot stay-at-home defenseman played last season for the York-Simcoe Express Minor Midget AAA, where in 28 games, he scored three goals and added 12 assists for 15 points.<br \/>\nWearing number seven, the sixteen-year old made his debut Sunday against the Owen Sound
