The hunt is on for local talent for the Celebrate Aurora music festival.<\/p>\n

As The Auroran reported last week, organizers of the festival, slated for Town Park for July 27 \u2013 28, are collaborating on the event, bringing together established performers and fresh local talent. A collaboration between Habachat, a local social media company, and Canadian Idol judge Farley Flex and his R.E.A.L. Corp, they aim to showcase over 20 local band and musical acts \u2013 and any band, musician, or entertainer from Aurora and York Region will be given a fair shake at auditioning.<\/p>\n

Submissions and applications are now being accepted through June 7 at www.habachat.com\/entertainment. <\/p>\n

Younger Aurorans will also have a chance to showcase their moves with So You Think Aurora Can Dance? hosted by So You Think You Can Dance Canada finalist Miles Faber, as well as \u201cAurora\u2019s Got the Voice\u201d with Farley Flex. These competitions will be two-tiered, with one for the 14-18-year-olds and a category for singers and dancers 13 and under. <\/p>\n

If you think you have what it takes, applications for the competitions are also being accepted through www.habachat.com\/talentcompetitions. All you need to do is fill out your application and submit a link to a 30 second dance video or one song verse by June 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou would be amazed at the level of talent that is hidden within communities like Aurora,\u201d said Mr. Flex in a statement. \u201cWe have already identified some amazing local talent that will be featured and are looking for more hidden gems.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other attractions slated for the festival include food and drink provided by Aurora restaurants and a chance for attendees to try to break the record for the world\u2019s largest Harlem Shake on the Saturday at 4.30 p.m.<\/p>\n

R.E.A.L. Corp. stands for Reality, Education & Applied Life skills, a concept developed by Mr. Flex to give youngsters with artistic aspirations well-rounded exposure not just to the arts and entertainment industries, but also providing leadership skills and a taste of all the various facets of the business so people can find their true career paths.<\/p>\n

Mr. Flex initially submitted a proposal for a music festival for Machell Park for the last weekend in July at the same time Tim Newnham and Debbie McGrath of Habachat proposed a similar music and cultural festival for the same weekend at Town Park.
