The Aurora Farmers Market & Artisan Fair (AFMAF) had a fantastic Opening Day on Saturday, May 4 and I wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge and thank all the people outside the committee who helped us make it so. <\/p>\n

Maria from Blue Willow Gardens\/Butterflies in Bloom was instrumental in helping us obtain the butterflies for our release, the pansies for feeding them and very generously donated colouring\/activity books for the kids at the craft table. <\/p>\n

The lollipop butterfly craft was the brainchild of Tara Jenks, who also spent countless hours cutting and clipping butterfly shapes and decorations for us! Teri Fowler from the Aurora High School music department connected us with \u201cSpectrum\u201d \u2013 Julia on keyboards and vocals, drummers Tristan and Dmitri, Sydney on bass, Amy on vocals and Geoff on vocals and guitar \u2013 all of whom opened our musical season with a great variety of songs and music!
\nWe look forward to having them come and play for us again! <\/p>\n

My grateful thanks to local singer Judy Belanger for bringing her guitar and her golden voice and for creating her very own back-up percussion band of kids! <\/p>\n

Our volunteers did an amazing job helping the kids put their butterfly crafts together and many thanks as well, to Councillor Sandra Humfryes for arranging and delivering a gorgeous donation of fresh tulips from local florist, Flowers by Terry.<\/p>\n

We strive to make our special events days truly special and having the support and participation from people in our community who like to make a difference really makes my job much easier. When we get it right, it\u2019s because of all these people. And if we don\u2019t always get it right or if I\u2019ve overlooked something, I appreciate your constructive feedback and ideas (and participation!) to help us improve. <\/p>\n

I look forward to many more sunny, fun-filled days at the Market this season and I\u2019ll see you there!
