{"id":20583,"date":"2018-05-10T10:14:41","date_gmt":"2018-05-10T14:14:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=20583"},"modified":"2018-05-10T10:14:41","modified_gmt":"2018-05-10T14:14:41","slug":"merlins-hollow-opens-saturday-for-37th-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/merlins-hollow-opens-saturday-for-37th-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Merlin\u2019s Hollow opens Saturday for 37th season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Merlin\u2019s Hollow, the famed garden of David and Dierdre Tomlinson will welcome visitors for their 37th season this Saturday.<br \/>\nFounded by landscape architect David Tomlinson, and his wife Dierdre, in 1981, Merlin\u2019s Hollow is designed as a series of gardens within a garden.<br \/>\n\u201cEnclosed by high cedar hedges, each garden has its own distinct character and a series of arches invite the visitor from one garden to the next,\u201d say the Tomlinsons. \u201cFeatures within the garden include woodland beds, a fern walk, alpine garden with scree beds, bog beds and a frog pond. Stone walls enclose raised beds of scented flowers, herbs, heritage shrub roses and a thyme lawn.
