{"id":18824,"date":"2017-11-01T18:49:59","date_gmt":"2017-11-01T22:49:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=18824"},"modified":"2017-11-01T18:49:59","modified_gmt":"2017-11-01T22:49:59","slug":"second-half-push-gives-mustangs-basketball-win-over-eagles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/second-half-push-gives-mustangs-basketball-win-over-eagles\/","title":{"rendered":"Second half push gives Mustangs basketball win over Eagles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Jake Courtepatte<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The St. Maximilian Kolbe Mustangs will be riding quite a high heading into the YRAA basketball playoffs.<br \/>\nThe long ball was key in the Mustangs 46 \u2013 36 win over the crosstown rival Aurora High School Eagles on Monday, bringing their record to an impressive 6-1-0 on the season.<br \/>\nA back-and-forth first half was closed out with a three ball in the final minute, giving St. Max a 23 \u2013 20 lead heading into halftime.<br \/>\nContinuing with more of the same in the third quarter, the Mustangs used their league-best defense to shut down the Eagles scoring efforts.<br \/>\nWith playoff brackets yet to be set, the Mustangs will play host when the postseason begins next week. The bracket final is set for November 15 at Markham District.<br \/>\nThe Eagles finish the regular season with a record of 2-6-0.<\/p>\n<a class=\"synved-social-button synved-social-button-share
