{"id":18631,"date":"2017-10-11T15:57:07","date_gmt":"2017-10-11T19:57:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=18631"},"modified":"2017-10-11T15:57:07","modified_gmt":"2017-10-11T19:57:07","slug":"saints-football-stays-perfect-in-battle-with-st-mikes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/saints-football-stays-perfect-in-battle-with-st-mikes\/","title":{"rendered":"Saints football stays perfect in battle with St. Mike\u2019s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Jake Courtepatte<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When two perfect seasons clash, one is bound to lose that moniker.<br \/>\nThat was the case last Wednesday in the CISAA matchup between the 2 \u2013 0 St. Andrew\u2019s College Saints and the 2 \u2013 0 St. Michael\u2019s College Kerry Blues, longtime rivals in the independent school league.<br \/>\nIt was quarterback Dylan Tabone\u2019s day to shine, in what head coach Len Gurr called a \u201cmonster game\u201d. Tabone\u2019s 250 yards on the ground was highlighted by a 108-yard touchdown run, adding two more majors himself while going to the air to Lucas LaBrier for another pair.<br \/>\nIan McLean and Adre Simmonds also added TDs of their own.<br \/>\n\u201cHuge props also go to the offensive line,\u201d said Gurr.\u201cThe big \u2018war daddies\u2019 Gabriel Wallace, Ethan Kalra, Matt Cronin, Alex Ross and Sam Ashton battled a physical and aggressive Kerry Blues\u2019 front seven and took over the game in the second half.\u201d<br \/>\nThe Saints\u2019 record had improved to 2 \u2013 0 just three days prior in the annual Homecoming game, where big offensive games from both Simmonds and McLean came in handy in defeating Upper Canada College 21 \u2013 12.<br \/>\nMcLean\u2019s two touchdowns and Simmonds\u2019 100+ all-purpose yards were paired handily with strong defensive efforts, led by an interception by Luke St. John in the second quarter that led to the first Saints touchdown.<br \/>\nWhile holding a record of 3 \u2013 0 in the conference, the Saints are 5 \u2013 0 in total on the season.<br \/>\nThe CISAA season continues on Saturday as the Saints battle with the winless Trinity College School, a team SAC put up 53 points against in the first game of the year.<br \/>\nPlayoffs begin in the first week of November.<\/p>\n<a class=\"synved-social-button
