Six games in six days did nothing to dampen the spirits of the AA Aurora Jays, who picked up a crucial nine points in the North Dufferin Baseball League standings.
\nWith the schedule amped up late in the season following a tumultuously rainy year, the Jays put up a record of 4-1-1 over the week to sit comfortably in third place heading into the final week of the regular season.
\nThe Jays opened the week with a split decision at Lambert Willson Park on Tuesday, defeating the Bolton Dodgers 9 \u2013 1 before falling to the New Lowell Knights 12 \u2013 2, with Knights perennial All-Star Todd Gowan on the mound.
\nThey rebounded with three straight wins, first over the Clearview Orioles on Thursday before back-to-back wins Saturday over the Mansfield Cubs and Newmarket Cornhuskers.
\nThe 9 \u2013 0 win over the Cubs was highlighted by a no-hitter performance by Nathan Robinson, in a complete game effort.
\nIn Newmarket for an early evening matchup, the Jays\u2019 9 \u2013 8 win was split on the mound by Ian Milne, Zach Wiseman, and Thomas D\u2019Andrade, in what bench boss Rob Wilson called \u201ca dominant final frame.\u201d
\nOffensively, Robinson capped off his stellar day by going deep in his first at bat, while Ted Beadle went an impressive eight-for-eight on the day.
\n\u201cCrazy that is the second best day, behind Nate,\u201d said Wilson.
\nA rematch with the Knights on Sunday afternoon ended with a tie, after Devin Wu put up a masterful performance on the mound to allow just two runs.
\n\u201cDevin Wu pitched another great game,\u201d said Wilson. \u201cWe went down 2 \u2013 0 early but we chipped away with Chris Rettie cashing in the tying run, with two out in the sixth.\u201d
\nPutting in an entire seven innings, Wu gave up just six hits and three walks while striking out two batters.
\nThe Jays sit at a record of 18-6-1, two points back of the Bolton Brewers and five points back of the league-leading Knights.
\nThe final game of the regular season goes Sunday against the Barrie Angels (13-10-1) on the road, with first pitch set for 2 p.m.
