{"id":16158,"date":"2016-12-21T17:50:37","date_gmt":"2016-12-21T22:50:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=16158"},"modified":"2016-12-21T17:50:37","modified_gmt":"2016-12-21T22:50:37","slug":"a-story-for-christmas-gods-wife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/a-story-for-christmas-gods-wife\/","title":{"rendered":"A story for Christmas: God\u2019s Wife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In New York City, on a cold day in December, some years ago, a little boy about 10 years old was standing, almost barefooted, in front of a shoe store, peering through the window, shivering from the cold.<br \/>\nA lady approached the young boy and said, &#8220;My, you&#8217;re in such deep thought staring in that window!&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes&#8221;, was the boy&#8217;s reply.<br \/>\nThe lady took him by the hand, went into the store and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy.<br \/>\nShe then asked if he could give her a basin of warm water and a towel.<br \/>\nHe quickly brought them to her.<br \/>\nShe took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet and dried them with the towel.<br \/>\nBy this time, the clerk had returned with the socks&#8230;putting a pair on the boy&#8217;s feet, she then purchased him a pair of shoes.<br \/>\nShe tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him.<br \/>\nShe patted him on the head and said, &#8220;No doubt, you will be more comfortable now&#8230;&#8221;<br \/>\nAs she turned to go, the astonished kid caught her by the hand, and looking up into her face, with tears in his eyes, he asked her: &#8221;
