Tickets are selling fast for an opportunity to take your taste buds on a trip around the world through the liquid brown gold of scotch.
\nOnce again, the Aurora Historical Society and CHATS (Community & Home Assistance to Seniors) teaming up for an Evening of Fine Scotch Tasting next Thursday, November 24, at Hillary House.
\nFunds raised for the Aurora Historical Society will go back into the maintenance of the National Historic Site, while CHATS\u2019 share of the pot will go to \u201cenriching the health and wellbeing of our community\u2019s seniors and caregivers\u201d by supporting existing services for their over 7,700 clients in York Region and South Simcoe.
\nNow in its third year, the two organizations \u2013 and scotch expert Keith Scott \u2013 will take you on a tour of scotches for every taste including the traditional Glen Fiddich from Scotland, Green Spot from Ireland, Amrut Fusion from India, Super Nikka from Japan, and South Island Single Malt of New Zealand.
\n\u201cIt is usually a night for the scotch drinker, but there have been some people [in previous years] who have come wondering about scotch and simply to learn what different scotches are all about,\u201d says CHATS\u2019 Tim Jones. \u201cIt is helpful to have a palate that can distinguish between different types of booze, but I\u2019m not sure mine is that sensitive!
\n\u201c[Martin] uses accompaniments to try and bring out the flavour of the scotch, so we\u2019re fortunate because La Jolie Cheese Chop has volunteered to participate and provide samples that heighten the scotch\u2019s flavour.\u201d
\nTickets are $75 and limited to 35 places. At press time, there were only a handful of tickets left.
