As usual, all donations raised from the Corn Roast will be donated to the Aurora Food Pantry. We want to thank the Mayor, our Council Liaison Sandra Humfryes and the other Town Councillors who helped with the BBQ.
In addition to our Corn Roast on Saturday, Mayor Geoff Dawe handed out the Town of Aurora’s Community Recognition Awards to seven of our longtime, active Market volunteers: 5 year Volunteer Service awards went to Victoria McArthur, Bruce McArthur, Anna Kroeplin, Frank Condlln and Gabriel Schacher: 10 year awards were given to Shirley Wiedemeyer and Jan Freedman.
Now I’d like to introduce the family behind “Jewels for His Crown”, another new vendor. Some people believe that a diamond is one of the most precious jewels to possess. At Jewels for His Crown, they have proven that there are gems of much greater value which last a lifetime – love, peace, joy, hope faith, forgiveness, courage and charity, to name a few. In a society where many of these jewels are lacking, and where many people have no hope, the family wants to make a difference one stitch at a time.
Jewels for His Crown is a family based business. Their mother has gathered her daughters and sons, as well as their offspring, to collectively exercise love, unity and divine ingenuity to create many different items for people to enjoy.
They make beautiful custom crocheted, knitted and sewn items such as baby blankets, booties, cardigans, bibs and bonnets. They also make scarves, throw cushions, bookmarks, shawls for adults and children, accessories and much more.
They offer handcrafted cedar planter boxes and wooden blanket chests which can be ordered. They are reasonably priced considering the hours that go into creating each unique piece and the high quality.
Those involved in making each piece have said that it has created in them love, joy, peace, grace, unity, perseverance and patience. They hope that those who purchase their products will be blessed with the same virtues.
The proceeds that they raise from their sales are used to help others. Last summer, with the help of the community, they were able to raise enough money to assist a family with 5 children overcome some dismal situations and they are now on their way to recovery. Their current project is to fix facilities enabling them to help both the young and the elderly.
Many are searching for true change and a chance at love. With help from their customers, the family believes it is possible and they thank everyone for their help and support.
It has come to our attention that some people are not aware that the Farmers’ Market is ending its outdoor season on October 8 this year, earlier than usual. We intend to then move indoors to the Armouries approximately every two weeks until the middle of December, after which we will close until we re-open outdoors in May.
I will let you know the actual dates when our booking is confirmed.
See you at the Market!

By Jan Freedman We have been ever so lucky with the weather this season at the Farmers’ Market and Saturday was no exception.
