Jose De Sousa doubled his goal production on the year with a hat trick in a 5 \u2013 1 drubbing of Aurora United FC by North Mississauga on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Aurora lost their second game in a row in the inter-divisional matchup, falling behind just three minutes in and never regaining their footing. The game was 4 \u2013 1 heading into halftime.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe went to the change-room and talked about the first-half mistakes,\u201d said assistant coach Ramin Mohammadi. \u201cBecause the game was really changed in the first couple minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n

De Sousa completed his hat trick in extra time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had asked them not to concede any goals, but in the second half they played more disciplined football,\u201d he added. \u201cI think in the first half they were all over the place. In the second half they were more disciplined, they listened to the information, and they played a better game.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, I think players need to understand that it is much easier to play better when you are three goals behind, but it is important for players to play that way the entire game to avoid the initial breakdown in the first place.\u201d<\/p>\n

The only Aurora goal was scored by Simon Adjei who, in the 26th minute, took advantage of an opportunity where the North Miss goalie missed a diving grab at the ball.<\/p>\n

On a positive note, Adjei received news that he was the top vote-getter for next week\u2019s League 1 All-Star game in the forward position. Adjei has scored eight of Aurora\u2019s twelve goals this season, with Aurora sitting one point up on Masters Futbol for seventh in the East division in their inaugural season.<\/p>\n

The weekend held a similar fate for the women\u2019s side of the AUFC, who fell to North Miss 3 \u2013 0 on Friday.<\/p>\n

Former Canadian junior international Emily Borgmann scored twice in the shutout, topped off by a notch from Jamaica\u2019s Oshay Lawes at the 70-minute mark.<\/p>\n

Despite a lack of offensive output, Mohammadi, the head coach of the women\u2019s squad, was pleased with his team\u2019s efforts against a higher-ranked opponent.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a good game, back and forth,\u201d said Mohammadi. \u201cThey are a very dangerous team to play on the counter attack. They have a lot of speed and talented players up front so they did end up catching us a few times.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, for the most part, I felt we dealt with it, and we created our chances but we lacked the final ball. In the end that\u2019s what you need to win games, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCredit to North Miss, they executed their plan well,\u201d he concluded. \u201cWe had our chances, we played well so there\u2019s nothing to say but to look forward to our next game.\u201d<\/p>\n

The loss, the second in a row for AUFC, drops the team to seventh in the nine-team women\u2019s league with a record of 2-6-3.<\/p>\n

Both sides will take a break for the Civic Holiday weekend, returning to action on Sunday, August 7.
