I\u2019m a 34 year resident of Newmarket but grew up in Toronto.
\nNow retired, I was in high school when the Flag Flap was in full swing.
\nI strongly supported the call for a new flag then and like the current flag, but I preferred the version with the blue side bars.
\nAs a country, we survived the change in flag and maybe now is the time to support a change in the national anthem.
\nThe Maple Leaf Forever is not only a much better piece of music, the title and recurring chorus words absolutely match our nation\u2019s Flag.
\nAnd\u2026while the words may need some work, the existing words definitely reflect our history and why should any Canadian be ashamed or slighted by our history?
\nLester Pearson had the guts and vision for a new flag, I wonder if our current PM would take on the Anthem.<\/p>\n
