{"id":14281,"date":"2016-05-18T18:31:22","date_gmt":"2016-05-18T22:31:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/?p=14281"},"modified":"2016-05-25T18:04:00","modified_gmt":"2016-05-25T22:04:00","slug":"tas-almost-maine-a-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newspapers-online.com\/auroran\/tas-almost-maine-a-review\/","title":{"rendered":"TA&#8217;s Almost, Maine: A Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Scott Johnston<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A fictitious and slightly magical community in the northeastern U.S near the Canadian border is the setting for Theatre Aurora\u2019s latest production of \u201cAlmost, Maine\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201calmost\u201d comes from the fact that the residents never got around to being organized enough to establish a proper town, so it\u2019s&#8230; almost.<br \/>\nBut, that explanation is just a backdrop to the series of several stories that take place on the same winter\u2019s night.<\/p>\n<p>The play, by John Cariani focuses on relationships, with the vignettes bracketed by one heart-warming tale set on a park bench that takes place in three parts. Many of the stories have a slight twist to them, and not all have happy endings, but that\u2019s the nature of relationships.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the stories are entertaining and very well written.<\/p>\n<p>Better yet, they are nicely performed by six young men and women, who each play a variety of roles.
