Happy New Year. I sincerely hope everyone had a chance to spend some quality time with friends and family over the holiday period. I also hope you share my excitement and optimism for the upcoming year.
\nOn Monday of this week, the House returned, and I travelled back to Ottawa after a busy few weeks in here in Aurora and Newmarket.
\nOver the last month, I have had the opportunity to visit a number of local businesses.
\nI continue to be impressed by the number of fascinating companies, right here in our own backyard.
\nAs diverse as these businesses are, one similarity struck me: they are all doing innovative work, focussing on the future.
\nThe entrepreneurs behind these businesses share an optimism for Canada\u2019s economic future.
\nI remain steadfast in my commitment to these local companies, and others, to help them create great jobs right here in our community and to help ensure that they continue to innovate.
\nI also was pleased to meet with a number of constituents and community groups in our office. It is always rewarding to gain the insight from others when we develop public policy.
\nOur government is committed to consulting with Canadians as we develop the 2016 Budget. Along with other York Region MP colleagues, we hosted a Pre-Budget Consultation in the York Region Administrative Centre.
\nThe input from the participants was quite valuable.
\nI am holding another session on February 10 at the Aurora Seniors\u2019 Centre. Please contact my office for details. Also, you may provide any input into Budget 2016 online at www.fin.gc.ca. We want to hear from you!
\nI will be back from Ottawa this weekend, and I am happy to invite you to our New Year\u2019s Family Skate on January 30 at 5.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. at the Magna Centre in Newmarket.
