Students at King\u2019s Country Day School have many meal options in the new state-of-the-art dining hall.<\/p>\n

For 43 years, Country\u2008Day School (CDS) has gone without a cafeteria or dining hall, and the transformation that this new addition has created for the school is nothing short of phenomenal.<\/p>\n

Not only does this March\u00e9-style setup offer some of the healthiest meal options imaginable \u2013 salad bar with quinoa, edamame, olives, grilled vegetable paninis, eggplant rolls, and flank steak and corn on the cob \u2013 but students are eating incredibly balanced meals as a result.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe smiling faces you see everywhere are priceless,\u201d said Kim Sillcox, director of external communications.<\/p>\n

With all of the discussion around the need for children to eat more nutritious meals, what\u2019s happening at CDS is a great example of how \u201cif you serve healthy food, students will eat it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The main themes are engagement and education, local and sustainable and seasonal menus.<\/p>\n

The dining hall caters to all tastes and dietary needs.<\/p>\n

The \u201cGreen Kitchen\u201d\u2008caters to students who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, as well as those with food allergies.<\/p>\n

The \u201cCountry Kitchen\u201d\u2008encompasses the main precepts of healthy eating, traditional favourites and athletic-centric offerings.<\/p>\n

At the \u201cDeli Market\u201d\u2008students can create their own sandwich, just the way they like it.<\/p>\n

Prepared right in front of their eyes, students can watch their meals be made at the \u201cLive Kitchen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The only way to enjoy soup is from scratch, and that\u2019s how it\u2019s served at \u201cThe Bowl.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rotating daily specials featuring authentic Italian dishes, are provided at \u201cThe Oven.\u201d\u2008Favourites include pizza and pastas.
\nThe \u201cEnergy Bar\u201d\u2008provides refreshing and nutritious drinks of all varieties.<\/p>\n
