What a gloriously hot and sunny day we had at the market last Saturday for our annual Seniors\u2019 Day.
\nEntertainment by the talented group of seniors began quite early in the morning with songs by Cliff Davies and Alex Nugent, followed by the line dancers and then the singing group. I was delighted to see so many people in the Town Park enjoying and supporting the seniors from the Aurora Seniors\u2019 Association.
\nThere was also a group playing Mahjong so interested people (like me) could see how it is played, and some knowledgeable seniors at a table with information about the activities of the Seniors\u2019 Centre. Thank you to all the performers and participants.
\nOur farmers have now expanded their booths to their full lengths because they have such a large variety of produce available. There is very little that is not now available at the market, except the fall items. We have leafy greens, beets, summer squash, the hearty greens like kale, Ontario corn, broccoli and a great variety of berries. Now is a great time to visit the market because there is so much variety available at this time of year.
\nThe next vendor I\u2019d like you to meet is Katalin Malatinszky, the creator of Enchanted Limited Editions of Ladies Garments, a line of women\u2019s apparel under MK Design. She was born in Europe where she was educated in fashion and custom tailoring. She continued her education in Canada in interior design.
\nShe is passionate about creating a personal relationship with her clients to connect on a deep level. For a long time she has had a passion for studying and supporting earth causes and concerns for animal and human rights. Her aim was to integrate important aspects of her earth philosophies with her design services. She combines 25 years of experience in fashion and interior design to bring her tailor made products to Southern York Region.
\nHer studio is in Holland Landing and operates by appointment only. All the garments are individually hand crafted, carefully made with both the customer and the earth in mind. Due to the high demand, she is continuously developing the Enchanted Line of ladies\u2019 garments.
\nShe is proud to provide clothing for all shapes, sizes and tastes. She is dedicated to also provide clothing for plus sized ladies (our goddesses) in apparel that is functional, sensual and fashion forward. She makes inspirational clothing for everyone, regardless of age, body type or taste.
\nThis inclusiveness is part of what makes Enchanted special. Her philosophy is to treat each customer relationship like the valued partnership that it is. When dealing with the Enchanted Line, a customer is not interacting with a faceless corporation but with a soulful, earth conscious and caring person who listens attentively to a client\u2019s needs to create a vision and final product together.
\nThe Enchanted Line is created for all women, especially plus sized women, who are under-represented in the marketplace. The clothing is meant to express the inner qualities in each woman. Katalin is proud that her garments are locally crafted, practical, easy to care for, cost conscious and made with fabrics inspired by nature. The garments are for every occasion from beach wear, destination wear, work, home, formal evening dresses and even wedding attire. \nThe Farmers\u2019 Market and Artisan Fair\u2019s next Special Event is our Community Corn Roast on August 22. I will tell you what we have planned for that day in my next column, but there will be lots of delicious fresh, locally grown corn for everyone to enjoy.
\nBefore I go, I\u2019d like to thank all the vendors and customers of the market who combined to celebrate my big birthday with me on July 25.
