Southlake Hospital is a subject close to my heart. It is also my community hospital, and it is only 10 minutes away from my home in Aurora.
\nIt comes with extreme bewilderment to me, that 12 Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation
\nBoard Directors resigned all in one day. This to me is unheard of.
\nFurther, I would ask why it has taken eight days to announce these sudden mass resignations to the media, given the gravity of the situation.
\nThat June 30 date also has a very special meaning in my heart for me.
\nThis is why I take the time to voice my concerns.
\nAs a patient, financial donor and a concerned citizen within my community, this mass resignation of Board of Directors leaves me very disturbed and perplexed to say the least.
\nTo me, and many others in our community, this mass resignation of 98% of the Board raises concerns and feelings of uncertainty. In short, it boggles my mind and shakes my confidence.
\nThese 12 Directors who resigned are not simply youthful “volunteer members”; on the contrary, they are well to respected and well connected business, social and medical people in the Aurora and Newmarket community.
\nIn later updates, the CEO of the Foundation says that the “public can trust in Southlake.”
\nI tend to believe her.
\nWhat is the motive and reason for this sudden mass exodus of Board Directors?
\nAre the authorities involved in a possible investigation of wrong doing?
\nThat to me would be unfathomable, given the many respected people involved.
\nBut certainly a reasonable explanation must be given to the community at large.
\nI have had the pleasure to personally know the CEO of Southlake Foundation. To me, she has always presented herself with extreme politeness, integrity and complete devotion to her job. The CEO is not part of the resignations. At this point, I place my trust in the hands of the Foundation CEO and await, like many others, a reasonable explanation of this perplexing mass resignations of Board of Directors.
\nI also send my very best wishes to the President of the Hospital, whom I also have had the pleasure to know and chat with.
\nLike the CEO, I found the President to be extremely professional and also totally devoted to the Hospital.
\nIn conclusion, it is my hope Southlake Foundation resolves this matter at the earliest and regain the confidence of the hospital’s patients, donors, and the community at large.
