Our thanks to Aurora Seniors\u2019 Association (ASA) volunteer Joan Levert and the Aurora Tigers Junior Hockey Club for their donation of $410 from a quilt raffle earlier this year. If you recall, Joan handcrafted a beautiful quilt on a Tigers theme and donated it to her favourite hockey club. Thank you, Joan, and please convey our appreciation to the hockey club.
\nThe Easter Egg Hunt was a great success. I am told we had approximately three thousand children, their parents and guests. Our thanks to the Optimist Club of Aurora volunteers who partnered together for this very enjoyable event.
\nOur Line Dance Afternoon on Sunday, April 12 brought in close to 55 dancers, and our Friday Spring Fling dance brought close to 70 members and guests, both events very enjoyable. From the comments we received, everyone had a great time.
\nClean Up Day helped round out April. Our Pickle Ball participants, on behalf of our Seniors\u2019 Centre, teamed up with about 10 of their members to clean up areas surrounding the Senior\u2019 Centre and our Town Hall. All volunteers were treated to a thank you barbeque at Town Park. Our thanks to John Pitkin for coordinating this initiative.
\nLater that day was our spring sale. The Seniors\u2019 Centre was overflowing with all sorts of treasures people donated from their homes. Our snooker room was turned into a flea market with all items being sold at bargain prices. The craft room was full of books and puzzles members and community residents brought in.
\nOur thanks to Carol Hedenberg for coordinating this event and her great team of volunteers who all worked together. It was a very successful event with people from our community and surrounding areas finding and buying what they like and can use. Our Food Services Team also provided all the refreshments.
\nOur Board of Directors Meeting was April 20 and several items were approved, including a $275 sponsorship donation to the Royal Canadian Legion (Aurora Branch) to recognize Ontario\u2019s Veterans. Our support helps them publish their annual Military Service Recognition Book to help recognize and honour many of Ontario\u2019s brave veterans who have served their country so well.
\nThe Board is also reviewing our five-year partnership agreement with the Town of Aurora, which will fall due in January 2016. They will also be proposing to the Town the direction the Aurora Seniors\u2019 Centre should be taking in the next five years.
