Reader has novel solution to Bell tower

I have been driving almost daily past the location on Bathurst Street where over several weeks a quite nice house nestled on a hill was torn down and replaced by a white, three-section Cell Tower by Bell Canada Communications.

Frankly, I am a little surprised at the sudden outcry at this when the project has been going on for months and relevant authorities in both King Township (where the tower actually is) and the Town of Aurora have had plenty of warning and consultation.
Whether either had the authority to stop it, I don't know. Obviously they don't, either.

Since it is a done deal, a white tower, if not an elephant, I have a suggestion that occurred after being consulted on a recent Sunday in the Kennedy Street parkette about the tower by deputy mayor John Abel.

At that time, my brother and I suggested it be painted brown and have branches added, though that would have made it an unusually tall fir at this height of land.

Perhaps more seriously, I now suggest that it be painted black, and be encased by a replica of The Eiffel Tower, with a staircase that could be ascended by any who would like a wonderful panoramic view of Aurora, Newmarket and King.

It could become a true tourist attraction, and a nice Parisian-style café below would heighten its appeal. I suggest we call it, The Bell'Arte Tower of Aurora.

Now wouldn't that just make everyone happy? Turn an eyesore into a beauty spot?

I think so! Let's get going with the project!
