By Brock Weir

York Regional Police have arrested two men following a series of break-and-enters in York Region, including Aurora.

Charged are Blair Kerr, 30, and Gordon Edwards, 33, both of Toronto.

The two have been charged with 12 counts of breaking and entering, 14 counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and a string of other offences. They appeared in court in Newmarket on Wednesday.

“On Wednesday, May 29, investigators responded to a break and enter at M&M Meat Shops located at 15005 Yonge Street, Aurora,” said Constable Andy Pattenden of the York Regional Police in a statement. “The suspects entered the store through a hole they had cut into the glass door. A quantity of cash was stolen from the business.

“In the weeks that followed, numerous break and enter incidents took place throughout York Region with similar modes of entry. In total, there were 15 commercial locations that had been broken into.”

According to Constable Pattenden, the two were taken in on Thursday, October 17 in the Town of Simcoe where they were seen breaking into an A&W Restaurant and were arrested by the OPP without incident.

Police ask anyone with information to call the YRP's #1 District Criminal Investigation Bureau at 1-866-876-5423 x.7172, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
