One should also assume that their elected title “Councillor” should no longer be used until the leave of absence is over and they have finally re-assumed their official responsibilities on Council. In light of these two statements, I feel both disturbed and disrespected, as a taxpayer in the riding of Newmarket-Aurora, that we have a Councillor who is currently doing the opposite. Councillor Chris Ballard is on the record as saying that he has taken a leave of absence from Town Council as of May 6, 2014, but was photographed on May 26 distributing awards as a “current'” Town Councillor. He continues to campaign as the Ontario Liberal Candidate in Newmarket-Aurora while also using his Councillor title simultaneously. Is this not a breach of conduct in the very least?
