This month might be the very last for Aurora’s Highland Gate Golf Club.
The venerable golf course is set to close, according to a statement from owners ClubLink. In an email, ClubLink’s Tim Green said the decision to close the course – at a date which is yet to be confirmed – was a long-time coming as the club grappled to maintain its place.
“Over the last several years, Highland Gate has struggled to maintain a customer base and an acceptable amount of rounds to make the Club economically sustainable,” said Mr. Green.
“There are many contributing factors to this, not the least of which is a significantly over-supplied local market that has created unprecedented competition. After numerous attempts to stabilize the club and much deliberation about the long-term financial outlook, we have decided to close the club and pursue an alternative use for the lands and buildings.”
