Bloggers weren't only ones hurt by lawsuit

I understand that many people were hurt during the lawsuit proceedings and the essential rights and values of freedom of speech and expression were at issue, but what is overlooked is that the bloggers were not the only ones likely hurt.

I have watched the character, integrity and intentions of an extremely dedicated, democratically elected representative be pulled through the mud for years now by the very town who had voted her into office.

The hate-filled words which were used toward Ms. Morris and which, I understand, prompted the lawsuit, and the subsequent news articles, never seemed to take into account that she, too, is a person and, perhaps like the bloggers, endured much more than she ever deserved or “imagined” as the Town she stood for appeared to turn against her.

I saw her dedication as mayor and her sense of commitment and integrity to do what she felt was the right course, however difficult, not for her own gain, but for an even more important value, respect for office and for this beautiful town we all call home.
