Aurorans make their mark at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour

Three Aurora junior golfers participated in the first tournament of the season on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour's Mini Tour last week at Turnberry Golf Club in Brampton.

This competition featured six age divisions of boys and girls from 8U all the way up to 12-years- old.

Representing the 8U division was none other than Aurora native Kingston MacPherson and the youngster didn't disappoint.

MacPherson took home first place in his division shooting a 68 – 12 shots over par.

He finished 11 shots better than second place finisher Caleb Kennedy who scored a 79.

This isn't MacPherson's first rodeo taking home the top prize in his Mini Tour career. Last August, MacPherson took home first place at Wyndance Golf Club in Uxbridge.

In the girls' division of the same age group, Aurora native Angelina Chang finished on the podium, finishing three shots behind Toronto native Soleil Lindholm, who shot 91.

The final Aurora native who finished one-shot shy of a podium position in the Boys 11-12 division was Luke Deplaedt.

Deplaedt, who scored a 73 in his round, recorded a +17 on the day. His best highlight was on the par three on the seventh hole. Deplaedt recorded his only birdie.

Players will be reporting to Turnberry Golf Club again on July 13 and July 26 before heading over to Markham Executive Golf Club on August 3.

Golfers will then return back to Turnberry before finishing off the season at the Mini Tour National Championship at Tsawwassen Springs August 19 and 20, as well as the finale at Whispering Ridge Golf Course on August 28.

The other winners included Kaeleigh Chung from the girls' 9-10 division, Nathan Dai of the boys' 9-10 division, Kaprice Park for the girls' 11-12 division Andy Dai from the boys' 11-12 division.
