Aurorans celebrate Canada Day in the Park (Councillor Wendy Gaertner, Mayor Geoffrey Dawe, Citizen of the Year Beverley Wood, Councillor Michael Thompson, and MP Lois Brown join forces to cut Canada's birthday cake) Photos by David Falconer Aurorans of all ages flocked to Lambert Willson Park last Tuesday, July 1, to mark Canada Day in style. Capped by a dazzling fireworks display, activities throughout the day included activities designed to give a cross-country tour of Canada right here at home, and tributes to the Beatles, Tom Petty, and Fleetwood Mac.  A hearty breakfast of pancakes where whipped up (and flipped up) by the Optimist Club of Aurora  Although it originated in Scotland, truly Canadian curling gave youngsters a challenge!  Sylvia met up with a friendly camel at the petting zoo.  Ardy Sarraf picked up where Paul McCartney left off as a member of "The Fab Four" tribute.  Anna Leeming portraye Stevie Nicks in the Fleetwood Mac tribute band Fleetwood Nicks.  ...also in the band: Gerry Parsons as Tom Petty.  A very grand finale! |
