Aurora Tigers well represented on OJHL all-star squadsBy Jake Courtepatte With the recent onslaught of wins for the Aurora Tigers Junior A team, it comes as no surprise that a league-high nine players have been named to play in this month's Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge. Representing the OJHL will be defencemen Eric Williams, Callum Fryer, and Noah Delmas, forwards Drake Board, Keaton Ratcliffe, Michael Laidley, Johnny Curran, and Cameron Morrison, and goaltender Andy Munroe. “It just shows what the Tigers' program is all about,” said head coach James Richmond. “Good players come in, develop, and hopefully move on to the next level.” “That's why I think players want to be in Aurora…they get the chance to develop their skills to a high level.” Coaching his young team to a record of 14-3-0-1 so far this season, Richmond was awarded a head coach position in the tournament as well. The massive size of the Ontario Junior Hockey League allows for four rosters to be put together for the tournament, each named after a high-profile league alumni. Richmond will head up team (Dale) Hawerchuk, joined by Fryer, Ratcliffe and Board. “I'm proud of it, it's quite an accomplishment,” said Richmond. “It's an honour.” However, Richmond said he is even more proud of seeing nine of his players selected. “That there tells me that the coaching staff is doing the right things for the kids.” The tournament will be held November 14 - 16 at the MasterCard Centre in Etobicoke. The formatting of the tournament is quite unique, with teams playing two twenty-minute halves in what is destined to be a showcase of speed and intensity.
