All welcome for Sunday’s “thanks giving” celebration at Town ParkBy Brock Weir All residents of Aurora are invited to come out and give thanks at a special service planned for Sunday, June 15 at Town Park. The occasion will be a large scale family event planned jointly by Aurora United Church and Trinity Anglican Church as a day of family fun, food, and activities, as well as a bring-your-own-lawn chair joint service hosted by the two churches to mark their new path together following the April 11 fire. “Since [the fire] we have welcomed [Aurora United Church] in and reorganized our own community so they have a place to go and we can all serve together as a community,” said Rev. Ian Martin of Trinity. “We will be going to Town Park for an open prayer service, on which will incorporate some fun for the kids, music, some readings, and it is a time of prayer and celebration together, and to partially give thanks as we embark on a new journey together for as long as we are together.” Events begin at 10 a.m. In addition to the kids' fun, music, and the readings, a community barbeque will be offered by M&M Meat Shops. |
