A good question. However, this was on private land and the city has little to do with it, so another good question is what happened to the Aurora Wildlife Park, also known as the Ivy Jay Nature Reserve, that was supposed to be built between Bayview and Leslie on the east side of town? This is a real gem of a property with beautiful ponds, pine forests and grass lands and is closed to the public while the planning stage goes on and on. I've monitored bird boxes in this area for five years and have been telling people what a fabulous park this will be, but I can never answer the question, “When will it be opened?” I understand that Mr. David Tomlinson, a retired landscape architect here in Aurora, has spent many years on this project free of charge and has submitted a detailed plan to the Town, only to have it spend $400,000 for consultants fees to basically verify that his plan is good and viable. Also up in the air is a question of two acres of grassland in the southern part of the park which, it has been suggested, remain part of the Nature Reserve instead have having houses built on it. So a question to the Town, “When will it be opened?” Maybe I can then answer this question next time I am asked.
