Environmental advocate Svetla Topouzova aims to make a difference.
The Aurora woman was the first resident to officially throw their hat in the ring for the 2014 Municipal Election, filing her papers soon after the registration book opened to the public on Thursday morning. She is running for Councillor.
Ms. Topouzova is a member of Aurora’s Environmental Advisory Committee and has been a vocal advocate for nature preservation and naturalization in Town, particularly in the area of Bayview Avenue and St. John’s Sideroad.
“I have a vision for the community I would like to help make a reality,” she says. “I believe I am capable of contributing to the community and have been very much involved in various initiatives. I have been preparing this application for a while and I didn’t see a reason to wait.”
