The talented forward opened the season on the injury reserve, but since coming back has been on fire with 22 points in 15 games. His play over the past few years has earned him a scholarship to Dartmouth College, where he will join his brother, Tyler, who is the team's current captain. Most recently, Sikura was invited to play in the 2013 Canadian Junior Hockey League Prospects Games in Digby and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The annual event collects the top junior talent from across the country for the showcase tournament. Sikura, along with Tigers linemate Michael Laidley, were named to Team East, an opportunity Sikura said was he glad to have received. “It was a really good experience,” he said. “There was lots of exposure and lots of people out there to watch. It was pretty professional and just a lot of fun.” They didn't play on the same line in Nova Scotia, but Sikura said he and Laidley had a good tournament. “He's not the flashiest player, but he's the fastest player on our team and maybe even in the division or the league, but he's quick on the puck and has got a heck of a shot. You can tell that by the fact he's already got 12 goals, he can really wire the puck and it really helps to have him on my line.” Now completely injury-free, Sikura is back with the Tigers and looking to get things going for the remainder of the season. “We're playing really good,” he said. “We went into that slump, but even when we did that, everybody knew the talent we had in the room and what type of character players we had. We knew it was just a matter of time before we turned it around and started winning like we are now.” Laidley is currently sitting out with an injury, but should rejoin the Tigers soon. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- Excerpt: Aurora Tigers’ Dylan Sikura has had a busy season already, and it’s only November.
