Tigers earn a win and a draw this week

The Aurora Tigers were shut-out against the Collingwood Blues 3-0 on Friday night before turning their weekend around with an impeccable 5-3 victory against the Burlington Cougars.

The Tigers haven't had much luck against the Collingwood Blues, posting an 0-8-1 record against the Blues in all competition dating back to last season.

The last time the Tigers defeated the Blues was December 16 of last year with a 2-0 victory.

On this occasion against the Blues, this could have very well been the one that got away. The Tigers went 0-7 on the power play, with 21 shots on goal. Blues netminder Noah Pak earned his second consecutive shutout against the Tigers, after shutting out the Oakville Blades the week before.

Dylan Hudon opened the scoring in the second period and Owen Sclisizzi added a second goal in the period short-handed.

In the third, Sclisizzi scored his second goal of the game with an empty net, sealing the victory.

Tigers netminder Glen Crandall stopped 27 of 29 shots in the loss.

The next night, with the Burlington Cougars in Town, saw quite a different story for the Aurora Tigers.

The boys went 2-4 on the power play this time, capitalizing on their chances and ultimately dominating the Cougars in a 5-3 victory.

Despite conceding early in the first period thanks to the opening goal from Ethan Walker, Ryan Gagner got the Tigers back on track with a power play goal to make it 1-1 at intermission.

In the second period, with the Tigers on the power play again, Lucas Stanojevic capitalized from Connor Van Weelie and Erik MacNiel.

Cougars player Carson Christy tied things up towards the end of the period, setting an amazing finale.

In the third, it was the Tigers who potted home three goals to seal the victory. MacNeil, Jace Lavallee and Van Weelie shorthanded were all credited for the goals to give the Tigers the win.

The Tigers have now improved to 10-8-0-3 and the boys now sit in sixth place in the North/West Conference.

On Friday night the Tigers head out on the road to take on the Pickering Panthers, before returning home to take on the North York Rangers Saturday night.

Puck drop for that game at the ACC is at 7.30 p.m.
