Reader agrees with Mayor on conference

(Re: In Good Company, June 26)

I’d like to thank Mayor Dawe for his column outlining the value of attending FCM conferences.
His well-informed insights are a clear and compelling argument that such attendance is a valuable investment by our leaders — for taxpayers and our communities.
As someone who has worked extensively in the municipal sector in the GTA, my experience has been that municipal leaders see this conference as critical. This is especially true, I think, during a time when such leadership itself is under siege.
I believe this: those leaders who don’t attend citing cost, when they have the means to do so, only affirm the old adage, “Some know the cost of everything, and the value of nothing.”
