"Medical issue" contributing factor in fatal crash

By Brock Weir

A 49-year-old Aurora man was pronounced dead after a fatal crash on St. John's Sideroad on Monday morning.

According to York Regional Police Constable Andy Pattenden, police were called to the scene at St. John's Sideroad and Pinnacle Trail after a driver heading south on Pinnacle in a Honda Civic failed to stop at a red light and hit a westbound Toyota Camry driven by a 57-year-old Aurora woman.

“The Civic did not stop for the red light and entered the intersection and collided with the Camry travelling westbound,” said Constable Pattenden. “Further investigation revealed the driver had been suffering from a medical condition, which was a contributing factor in the collision.”

The man was pronounced dead in hospital, while the woman was treated for minor injuries.
