Mayor’s Breakfast of Champions Spotlight: York Synchronized Swim Club Olena Verbinska - winner of 8 & Under Provincial Novice Figures A member of our Under 8 team, Olena has swam with York Synchro for three years. Each year she continues to advance in the sport, and is always a positive influence on newer members to the sport. This past year Olena demonstrated her passion and commitment practising an average of eight hours a week. The hard work paid off, allowing her to win first place in the province for her figures in the U8 age group. Olena was coached by Alysha D'Souza a former York Synchro swimmer turned coach. Anna Usova - winner 9-10 Year Old Provincial Novice Figures New to Canada, Anna previously swam synchro in Russia before joining York. This past year, throughout the season, she continually placed first with her figure scores. At the final competition held at Etobicoke's Olympium pool, she was able to continue this trend taking first place in the province for U10 figures. Anna was coached by Alysha D'Souza. |
