Leaving space unused five days a week is “beyond ridiculous”

This is in response to “Brock's Banter” in the April 30 edition of The Auroran.
The focus of the column was to encourage young people to make use of the up-dated facilities at the Family Leisure Complex. I think this is a sentiment most people would support.
Let us keep in mind that for 9 ½ months of the year, these young people will be in school for five days of the week from approximately 9 a.m, to 3 p.m. As the column suggests, Aurora seniors could make use of the facilities during the time it is not being used by the young people.
The column also suggests that the young people might feel it is “uncool” to use a facility recently vacated by seniors, and the young people wouldn't have a place to “truly call their own”.
As a tax paying Aurora senior, I feel to keep a large town facility empty during much of the five days of the week so that our youth don't feel uncool, is beyond ridiculous.
I think I can safely say, if seniors are allowed to use this facility, we will try not to leave our canes and our knitting around so we won't frighten the children.

(Editor's Note: I agree that scenario would be “beyond ridiculous”. However, the April 30 column was not speaking about the Aurora Family Leisure Complex as a whole, rather “The Loft” on the second floor and associated amenities. – B.W.)
