Golden Hawks down Tigers after OJHL all-star weekend

The Aurora Tigers dropped their sixth straight game this Sunday, after suffering a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Trenton Golden Hawks.

It was a rusty return for the boys from The Jungle after their captain Lucas Stanojevic represented the club at the all-star weekend in Collingwood.

Sunday evening was a chance to right the ship after dropping their previous five matches, but the Tigers seemed to have been one-step slower against the Golden Hawks.

The Hawks outshot the Tigers 35-16, forcing Tigers netminder Glen Crandall to stand on his head to fend off the onslaught.

In the first period, the Hawks opened the scoring on the man advantage. Matthew Cato assisted by Adam O'Marra and Jack Natyshak broke the deadlock.

Just over four minutes later, Zev Podolski made it 2-0 to end the frame.

Ryan Holmes made it 3-0 on the power play in the lone goal of the second period. In the third, Stanojevic ended Ben Bonisteel's shutout and with Crandall pulled, Holmes added his second of the game to seal it.

The Tigers had their fair share of opportunity on the power play as the Tigers went 0-5 on the man advantage and couldn't find the back of the net.

The boys will host the defending Buckland Cup champions, the Pickering Panthers this Saturday at the ACC. Puck drop is at 7.30 p.m.
