B-Saints take bronze in home tournament

By Jake Courtepatte

St. Andrew's varsity B squad can run with the big dogs.
They proved their worth last weekend in earning bronze at the second annual Gary West Invitational Tournament, hosting teams from across Canada and the northern United States at La Brier Arena on campus.
Caleb Creasor played the overtime hero in securing the win in Sunday's bronze medal game, adding four assists in taking down the CISAA rival Upper Canada College.
The Saints rolled through the competition in the round robin matchups, earning wins over both Lower Canada College and Kiski School and a tie with Gilmour Academy, setting up a semifinal berth against Everest Academy.
A 5 – 2 loss set up the third-place battle with UCC, where Kristopher Jansen and Parker Boland each scored twice, as well as Creasor and Coulson Link.
The Gilmour Academy Lancers were victorious over Everest Academy in the tournament's championship game.
John Hopkinson and Dalton Lehman shared the crease for the Saints throughout the tournament.
The prep school is now lined up to host the annual Macpherson Tournament from January 26 – January 28, drawing competitors from Ontario, Alberta, Quebec, New York, New Hampshire, and Maine, as well as Germany's Jungadler Mannheim, the first overseas team to participate in the 35-year old tournament.
