Last Friday, Aurora rebounded from a tough 4 – 1 loss to the Stouffville Spirit the previous week, taking down the Cobourg Cougars on home ice.

Defenceman Kyle Locke opened up the scoring with his first goal in a Tigers’ uniform, with goaltender Andy Munroe’s only blunder of the game coming at the fourteen-minute mark of the second period to tie the game.

Drake Board notched two early goals in the final period for a 3 – 1 Tigers win.

The team then travelled to face the Milton Icehawks for a rare Sunday game, one which the home squad would like to forget.

Just four minutes in, the red-hot Board was tripped up on a breakaway resulting in the most exciting play in hockey, a penalty shot.

His deke to the backhand would be stopped by the Milton goaltender’s left pad, and was just the start of his night.

The Tigers offence was relentless in the first period, miraculously headed to intermission in a scoreless tie despite fifteen shots on net.

Up 1 – 0 on a Jordan DaSilva goal early in the second, Board was sent in alone again, this time making no mistake while fighting off a defender and roofing the puck glove side.

His fourth goal in two games came just over five minutes later as he went bar-down on a drop pass from Nolan Dunn.

Up 5 – 1 after two periods, the Tigers kept pressing in the third, aiming shot after shot at the Milton net.

They added six more goals over the final twenty minutes, breaking into double digits with a 10 – 2 victory.

All in all, 64 shots were aimed at the Icehawks goaltender.

At the other end of the ice, Marcus Semiao stopped 16 of 18 shots in the winning effort. He is an incredible 10-0-1 on the season, with a goals-against-average of 1.90.

All but three players on the Tigers roster recorded at least a point in the game, with Board, Dunn, and Johnny Curran all earning three in the contest.

After a tough end to 2014, the Tigers are now 4-1-1 in the month of January. They have, however, given up the crown as top seed in the OJHL to the Trenton Golden Hawks, whose last loss came at the hands of the Tigers in mid-December.

The team will head up the road to Newmarket on Thursday to take on the division rival Hurricanes, before heading home to the Aurora Community Centre Friday and Saturday to face the Kingston Voyageurs and North York Rangers, respectively.
