Writer is looking in wrong direction for transparency

It’s a far cry to compare asking that schools be sign free (somehow suggesting this is an attack on freedom of speech) to what has happened in Hong Kong.
With respect to Ms. Leonard’s humble opinion on her comment on “more transparent and fair governance than we have these past four years in Aurora”, I would like to point out if Ms. Leonard had bothered to do her homework, she would have realized that the previous Council under Phyllis Morris, of which John Gallo was a Councillor, spent almost double the time behind closed doors compared to the current Council.
In fact they spent a total of 139 hours in closed session whereas our current council, under Mayor Dawe, has spent a total of 71 hours.
To paraphrase Ms. Leonard “In my humble opinion I would have to say there has been more ‘fair and transparent’ governance under Mayor Dawe.”
