CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations are in order to the following volunteers at the Aurora Seniors’ Centre who were nominated for the 60 Over 60 Volunteer Awards, York/South Simcoe’s premiere annual volunteer event. The prestigious awards recognize the distinct and outstanding contributions our nominees have made to the communities of York Region and South Simcoe. The awards were presented at a luncheon on Wednesday, October 8 at Club Bond Head.
Aurora’s nominees included Virginia Bodnar, Ruth Church, Elfride Greupner, and Charles Sequeira.
Congratulations to all our hard-working volunteers!

Aurora Seniors Holiday Bazaar
Saturday, November 8, 2014 – Bakers needed for Anne’s Bake table. Donate your favourite home-baked goodies: cookies, squares, cakes, loaves, tarts and pies. Please sign up at our reception desk. Thank you!

Pickle Ball Tournament
A pickle ball tournament was held in Oshawa on October 10. Congratulations to the winners, all of whom are members of the Aurora Seniors’ Centre. Medal standings:

Walter Rawlins – Gold
Annette Gagne – Gold
Myrna Rawlins – Gold
The game of pickle ball continues to grow in popularity here at our Seniors’ Centre. To maximize our playing time, pickle ball is played on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays of each week at specified times in the following categories: mixed doubles, ladies doubles and men’s doubles, and beginners.

Volunteers Required for Christmas Kettle Drive

The 2014 Kettle Schedule is now live and everyone is welcomed to sign up for kettle shifts in Aurora, Newmarket and Bradford. You can sign up for the drive by contacting Glennanne Philips, Community Relations Representative of the Central York Salvation Army, at 905-895-6276, on her cell at 905-751-3493, or by email at glennannephillips@rogers.com

Remembrance Day – November 11
Please take a moment to remember those who sacrificed their lives so we can all enjoy the freedom in this great country of ours. Let us recognize them and the great work they do in our communities.
